8.Why does Siltech solder most cables and connectors?Soldering is- in most cases- the only way to ensure a good and firm mechanical and electrical contact. The most important thing before soldering is a perfect metal-to-metal contact. So at Siltech, we apply some pressure to ensure a good contact, before the actual soldering is done. So the solder only functions as a sort of glue and doesn't directly influence the electrical behavior. If however there's a big nice shiny blob of solder with solder between the metals there's a very bad contact with high resistance. So beautiful looking soldering isn't necessarily the same as good soldering. Crimping techniques are also used by Siltech if the underlining structure is not damaged by the mechanical force of the pressure crimp.
