Q&A

12.Are digital cables the same as video cables?

Yes and no. When both types of cables are well designed they have the same characteristic impedance of 75 Ohm. Video cables however need to have a much higher bandwidth than digital cables. So you can use all videocables as digital interconnects but not necessarily the other way around. With most Siltech cables you can, as they all share a very high bandwidth.
-For SPDIF, AES-EBU digital signals a bandwidth
of 10Mc is sufficient.
-For Composite Video 11Mc
-For Component we advice 500Mc bandwidth to
also match future higher definition standard.
