Siltech Royal Single Crown in SoundStage! Ultra

Reviewed by Jason Thorpe, 1st of September 2025

In his latest Opinion column for SoundStage! Ultra, Jason Thorpe reflects on what happened when he completed his reference analog system with Siltech’s Royal Single Crown power and phono cables.

Having already lived with the speaker and interconnect models from the series, Thorpe describes this final step as transformative — particularly given the microscopic scale at which analog signals operate. As he notes, the turntable’s cartridge output “is orders of magnitude lower than what’s spat out of a line-level component… low enough to be affected by everything.”

“With the full Siltech treatment on the VPI, the growl was deeper, louder, more three-dimensional. A full-on win here.”

Listening impressions ranged from the thunderous bass of Day for Night by The Tragically Hip to the intimate atmosphere of Holly Cole’s Temptation. In both cases, the Royal Single Crown cables reshaped his experience — enhancing control in the low frequencies while also drawing voices and instruments forward with added presence.

Thorpe emphasizes that this was not simply about more bass, but about a new level of spatial realism and emotional connection:

“With the Siltechs working tag team, I felt closer to the music… A tighter, more prominent bottom end and this ethereal sense of intimacy.”

As his evaluation drew to a close, Thorpe’s verdict was clear:

“I highly recommend you investigate this combination of cables.”

We thank Jason Thorpe and SoundStage! Ultra for this thoughtful and detailed reflection, and for their continued trust in Siltech.
